Famble (plural: fambles), or Fam (plural: fams) in short, was slang from 18th century England for the hands. It began use in Middle English (pre-1500) and was first used in writing in 1567.
Some believe that fumble, to handle clumsily, comes from this term, but Old Norse has the word falma, meaning “to fumble, grope” so its origin may be from elsewhere. Famble is now an obsolete word in English.
Other slang for the human hand are paw, mitt, meat-hook, hook, dukes (specifically closed fists), and shaker.
