On Mondays, we start the week off with a gross human word. This week’s is globus.
Globus is a non-painful feeling of a lump in the throat when nothing is actually there. It’s often called globus sensation or globus pharyngeus.
It’s thought to be caused by muscle tension or referred pain from reflux. It has been a recognized phenomenon for 2500 years and yet we don’t completely understand it.
